Bringing Home a Puppy: Your First 30 Days

A simple plan for the first month with a new puppy: vet visits, vaccines, house training and socialization.

Bringing Home a Puppy

The first weeks at home shape your puppy’s health and personality for years. Book a first check-up within a few days of adoption so we can examine your puppy, plan vaccinations and start deworming.

Until the vaccination course is complete, let your puppy meet healthy, vaccinated dogs and new people in safe places. Short, positive experiences — car rides, new sounds, gentle handling of paws and ears — prevent fears later on.

For house training, take your puppy out after every meal, nap and play session, and reward success straight away. Patience works far better than punishment. Bring us your questions at every visit: no question is too small.

We just adopted a Labrador puppy and this is exactly what we needed. The short, happy car rides before the first vet visit really worked!

So glad it helped, Karen! Bring the vaccination booklet to your next visit and we'll plan the boosters together.
