Making Vet Visits Less Stressful for Your Cat
Most cats dislike the carrier more than the clinic itself. A few small changes make the whole trip calmer.
For many cats, stress starts when the carrier comes out of the closet. Leave it open in the living room for a few weeks, with a soft blanket and a few treats inside, so it becomes a normal resting place.
On the day of the visit, cover the carrier with a light towel, keep it level and secure it in the car. A top-opening carrier lets us examine your cat gently without pulling it out.
At our clinic, cats wait in a quiet area away from dogs, and we use calming pheromones in the consultation room. Tell us if your cat gets very anxious: we can plan a short, early appointment.
